MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The St. Catherine Univeristy tennis team blanked Hamline University 9-0 at Baseline Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota. St. Kate's record improves to 11-4 overall with a conference standing of 6-3.
In doubles action, St. Kate's claimed an quick three points with an 8-1 win at No. 1 from
Kelsey Dorr and
Sofia Walker to start off. At No. 2,
Monica Zink and
Faith Simon won 8-2 and at No. 3,
Erin Loterbauer and
Erica Wing defeated the Pipers 8-4.
Dorr, who is ranked No. 16 in the central region in singles play, defeated Chloe Reyes 6-1, 5-0, winning the match by retire. Walker crushed the No. 2 player 6-0, 6-0, and Simon was victorious at No. 3 with a score of 6-2, 6-1. Loterbauer edged out the Pipers No. 4 6-0, 6-1 and Zink won in the super tiebreaker. The Wildcats final point was scored by
Liliana Holmberg at No. 6, 7-5, 6-0.
St. Kate's will close out the regular season on Saturday traveling to Bethel University for a 1 pm conference match.
