ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University tennis team closed out the regular season at No. 25 Bethel University falling 7-2 to the Royals. Despite the loss, the Wildcats earn a sport in the MIAC playoffs in the post season with a MIAC record of 6-4.
Kelsey Dorr was involved in both of the Wildcats points starting the match off with an 8-5 defeat at No. 1 doubles with partner
Sofia Walker. Dorr also won at No. 1 singles defeating Lauryn Douglas 6-2, 6-1.
At No. 2 doubles,
Monica Zink and
Faith Simon were defeated 8-3 and
Erin Loterbauer and
Erica Wing fell 8-5 at No. 3 doubles.
Walker lost at No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-2, Simon lost at No. 3 6-0, 6-1, and Loterbauer was defeated 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4. Zink fell 7-5, 6-1 at No. 5 and
Liliana Holmberg was defeated 6-1, 7-5.
Final standings for the playoffs will be determined Sunday after Macalester College travels to St. Olaf to determine who will be tied with the Wildcats at 6-4. Playoffs are set to being Tuesday, April 30.
