ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University softball team posted a conference sweep on Senior Day downing the Concordia College Cobbers. The MIAC win puts St. Kate's at 8-12 with two conference contests left on the schedule.
GAME ONE | St. Catherine 9, Concordia 1 (5 innings)
The Wildcats maintained the lead throughout as Sam Arononson's single in the bottom of the first drove in Annie Cook and
Helen McKinnon. The Cobbers added their lone run of the game in the top of the second. McKinnon responded with a single driving in
Lynae Doty followed by tallying the Wildcats fourth run of the game.
Scoring took off in the fourth inning putting four more runs on the board with St. Kate's sealing the first win of the day in the fifth as McKinnon drove in
Natalee Sigfrids to put the run rule into effect.
Sarah Christy earned the win in the circle recording three strikeouts in 49 pitches. McKinnon hit 3 for 3 with 2 runs and 2 RBI. Aronson went 2 for 2 with 2 RBI and one double and
Mayci Larson added two RBI plus a double. Cook also hit 2 for 2 with two runs and one RBI.
GAME TWO | St. Catherine 4, Concordia 2
St. Kate's took another two run lead early in the second game as Kaitlin Boyles hitting a double to drive in Cook and
Taylor Brunn. Concordia added their first run in the top of the second cutting the lead to 2-1 and tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the fourth. St. Kate's winning runs came in the bottom of the fifth as Aronson's single brought in Cook and McKinnon and maintained the lead with
Erica Pronschinske in the circle.
Pronschinske claimed the win pitching the complete game with three strikeouts throwing 83 pitches. Boyles, Larson and
Kylee Kohout all hit doubles and Brunn hit 3 for 3 with one run.
St. Kate's will host Augsburg on Sunday, April 28 with a conference doubleheader starting at 1 pm.
