Wildcats close out season with split against Augsburg

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University softball team closed out the 2024 season with an MIAC split with Augsburg Univeristy. St. Kate's finishes the year at 15-24 with a conference record of 9-13.

GAME ONE | AUGSBURG 5, ST. CATHERINE 2
The Auggies took a three run lead in the opening frame off two errors on the Wildcats. St. Kate's responded with a run in the bottom of the second but was unable to hold off Augsburg again in the top of the third as they added two more.

St. Kate's added one final run in the bottom of the sixth inning but that wasn't enough to overcome the lead started in the first.

GAME TWO | ST. CATHERINE 3, AUGSBURG 2
Taylor Brunn was responsible for the Wildcats first run with a single getting on first before advancing on the throw to drive in Tori Vennemann who was pinch running for Kaitlin Boyles. Helen McKinnon followed with a double to bring in Brunn and Natalie Sigfrids taking a three-run lead in bottom of the third. Augsburg added a run in the top of the first off a wild pitch and added a final run in the top of the sixth.

McKinnon hit 1 for 3 with two RBI as Brunn hit 1 for 2 with one run and one RBI. Erica Pronschinske closed out her collegiate career with a win pitching the complete game giving up two runs on two hits while striking out three.
