ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University tennis team played their first match on their home outdoor courts on Sunday afternoon hosting Gustavus Adolphus College. Gustavus defeated St. Kate's 8-1 putting the Wildcats conference record at 4-3 and 8-4 overall.
Sofia Walker clinched a dominating win at No. 2 singles with a score of 4-6, 6-0, 10-7. Walker and
Kelsey Dorr also forced the tiebreaker at No. 1 doubles falling 8-7 (7-5). Following suit, Dorr was defeated in the tiebreaker at No. 1 singles falling 6-3, 3-6, 5-10.
Faith Simon was defeated at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-1 and
Anna Luksik fell at No. 4 6-0, 6-0.
Erin Loterbauer battled at No. 5 but was edged out 6-4, 6-3 and
Liliana Holmberg was defeated at No. 6, 6-0, 6-0.
Monica Zink and Simon played a close match at No. 2 doubles losing 8-5 and Loterbauer and
Erica Wing were defeated 8-0 in the No. 3 doubles match.
St. Kate's will travel to the University of Northwestern St. Paul on Monday afternoon for a non-conference match against the Eagles set for 3:30 pm.
