ST. JOSEPH, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University softball team ended the College of Saint Benedict Bennies nine-game win streak in game one of the conference doubleheader with a 7-2 win before falling in game two 9-0 in St. Joseph. St. Kate's record is now 10-17 with a MIAC record of 4-6.
GAME ONE | St. Catherine 7, Saint Benedict 2
Annie Cook's double to center field got things started in the opening inning driving in
Taylor Brunn. In the second, Brunn's single brought in another run before Cook doubled again to bring in Brunn and
Mayci Larson and take a 4-0 lead.
The Bennies added a pair of runs in the third cutting the advantage in half. Cook and Brunn combined for another set of runs in the top of the fifth and sealed the 7-2 win in the top of the sixth as Cook brought in
Serena Lee.
Sarah Christy earned the win in game one pitching a complete game with three strikeouts.
GAME TWO | Saint Benedict 9, St. Catherine 0 (5 innings)
Saint Benedict hit a three run homer in the bottom of the first inning of game two. They added two more runs in the bottom of the third and claimed the win with a four run fourth inning.
The Wildcats are home on Sunday hosting Hamline University for a MIAC doubleheader starting at 1 pm.
