MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University tennis team earned a 5-4 MIAC win over St. Olaf College to improve to 8-3 overall with a conference record of 4-2.
St. Kate's trailed after doubles play as
Kelsey Dorr and
Sofia Walker won the lone doubles match for the Wildcats. Dorr and Walker downed the Oles No. 1 doubles team 8-4 as
Monica Zink and
Faith Simon fell 8-4 at No. 2.
Erin Loterbauer and
Erica Wing dropped a close match at No. 3 falling 8-7 with a tiebreaker of 7-2.
Simon went on to pick up a quick 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles with Walker winning at No. 2 5-7, 6-3, 10-7. Loterbauer lost at No. 4 singles 6-1 6-0 and Zink lost at No. 5 7-5, 2-6, 3-10. The Wildcats final two points were at No. 6 with
Liliana Holmberg securing a 6-4, 6-3 win before Dorr sealed the win at No. 1 7-6 (8-6), 3-6, 10-8.
St. Kate's will face Gustavus Adolphus College on Sunday, April 14 at home with matches starting at 4 pm.
