ORLANDO, Fla. -- The St. Catherine University tennis team returned to the wins collum on Thursday afternoon defeating Division II foe, Shippensburg University at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida. St. Kate's is now 6-2 on the season as they return to Minnesota and conference play.
The Wildcats secured three wins in doubles to earn the two points early. At No. 1 doubles,
Kelsey Dorr and
Monica Zink won 6-0. In the No. 2 doubles match,
Faith Simon and
Erica Wing won 6-0 and at No. 3,
Erin Loterbauer and
Liliana Holmberg were victorious with a 6-0 win.
Dorr won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles while Simon played her first No. 2 singles match winning 7-5, 6-2. Luksik tallied a win at No. 3 singles dropping the first set 7-5 before coming back to win 7-6 and take the tie breaker 10-2. Loterbauer was successful at No. 4 with a 6-3, 6-2 win and Zink claimed No. 5 6-0, 6-2. The final singles match win went to Holmberg with a score of 6-4, 6-0.
St. Catherine will return to competition on Saturday, March 30 facing Carleton College on the road in Rochester, Minnesota.
