MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University tennis team dropped their first match of the season falling to MIAC foe, Macalester College 7-2. The loss drops the Wildcats to 2-1 overall with a conference record of 1-1.
Macalester Scots earned three points from doubles play taking the No. 2 doubles match first as
Erica Wing and
Monica Zink were defeated 8-6.
Kelsey Dorr and
Anna Luksik fell at No. 1 by a score of 8-7 as the tie breaker went to the Scots with a score of 9-7. The No. 3 doubles match was
Faith Simon and Marie Pelleteir also falling 8-7 as their tiebreaker had an 8-6 result in favor of the Scots.
Luksik fell at No. 2 6-1, 6-1 ahead of Zink dropping the No. 5 singles match 6-1, 6-4. Lily Holmberg scored the Wildcats first point of the match defeating the Scots No. 6 singles player 6-1, 6-4. Simon was defeated at No. 3 singles 6-3, 6-3 and the Wildcats second point came from Dorr at No. 1 singles by a score of 6-4, 7-5. Macalester's final point came from the No. 4 match as
Erin Loterbauer played a close match but ultimately falling 6-1, 7-5.
St. Kate's will host the Saint Mary's University Cardinals on Saturday, March 2 at Baseline Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota.
