MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University tennis team turned it around on Saturday evening with a 7-2 MIAC win over the Saint Mary's University Cardinals. St. Catheirne is now 3-1 overall with a MIAC record of 2-1.
The MIAC match was led by non-other than
Kelsey Dorr downing her singles opponent at No. 1 6-0, 6-0 after winning at No. 1 doubles along with
Anna Luksik 8-3. Luksik dropped a tough match at No. 2 singles 6-4, 4-6 and lose the tiebreaker 12-10.
Faith Simon continued her successful first season for the Wildcats claiming a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles while picking up a No. 3 doubles win with
Marie Pelletier 8-7 (7-5).
Erin Loterbauer claimed a decisive win at No. 4 taking down her singles opponent 6-0,6-0 while
Liliana Holmberg earned the finals single point at No. 6 by a score of 6-3, 6-1. The final doubles point was earned by Erica WIng and
Monica Zink at No. 2 doubles with a 8-7 (7-4) victory before Zink fell at No. 5 singles 6-3, 6-1.
The Wildcats will face Minnesota Morris on March 8 before they head to Orlando, Florida for three matches at the USTA National Campus. They return to conference play at Carleton College on Saturday, March 30.
