NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University hockey team was shutout 3-0 by the St. Olaf College Oles on Friday evening at St. Olaf Arena in Northfield.
St. Olaf used an even strength goal in the with 12 minutes left in the first period to get on the board. St. Kate's turned it on in the second period with 14 shots on net but still unable to tie the game holding the Oles to just seven shots.
The Oles added their second goal less than a minute into the third period before scoring a third goal with under three to play.
St. Kate's led the shot count 28-23 as senior goaltender
Abby Severson made 20 saves in the game.
The Wildcats will host the Oles for game two of the series on Saturday, February 3 at 2 pm at Drake Arena in St. Paul.
