ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University hockey team dropped their first contest of the season falling to the visiting University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point 3-0 in a non-conference match up.
The Pointers scored their first goal with 10:08 left in the first period before scoring their second with less than four minutes in the opening frame.
St. Kate's held Stevens Point off for second period but the Pointers struck one last time in the first minute of the third claiming the win.
The Wildcats had 16 shots on net led by
Paige Fasching with three. Sophomore goaltender,
Lea Grassia was in net for the Wildcats making 17 saves.
The two will face off again on Saturday for the non-conference series with puck drop scheduled for 1 pm at Drake Arena in St. Paul.
