MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University swimming and diving team completed the first day of the WildBear Invite hosted at Two Rivers High School Aquatic Center. The Wildcats are co-hosting the three day mid season invite along with Concordia University, St. Paul at the Golden Bears home pool.
Thursday's finals session opened with the 200-yard medley relay and the Wildcats claiming fourth. The relay team of
Ella Hochstetler,
Olivia Weil,
Emma Svendsen, and
Jordyn Grotbo posted a time of 1:49.15 to score 30 points.
Weil had the Wildcats top time in the mile posting a time of 18:17.55, good for sixth place overall. Junior
Nicolette Harvey followed posting a time of 19:11.29 in 13th and rookie
Mira Gupta was 17th overall with a finals time of 20:07.77.
Hochstetler was St. Kate's top finisher in at 24:87 just ahead of Grotbo in 14th with a time of 25:43. Svendsen clocked the third best time in the 200-yard individual medley with a finals time of 2:09.91 and
J Dombroski was ninth with a time of 2:14.88. Also making it to finals in the 200IM was
Natalie Chandler recorded a time of 2:22.30 and
Sierra Hermansen was in at 2:22.51.
Hochstetler, Dombroski and Chandler appeared in the 100-yard butterfly finals on Thursday evening led by Hochstetler. She finished tenth with a time of 59.28, Dombroski was in at 59.94 in 12th and Chandler rounded out the Wildcats with a time of 1:02.45.
The finals session wrapped up with the 800-yard freestyle relay with the team of Hochstetler, Weil, Grotbo and Svendsen in fourth with a time of 7:59.47.
Day two of the WildBear Invite starts at 10 am on Friday with preliminary trials followed by 3 mtr diving. The finals session is scheduled for 5:30 pm at Two Rivers High School Aquatic Center.
