MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The St. Catherine Univeristy swimming and diving team concluded their 2024-25 season on Saturday evening at the MIAC Swimming and Diving Championships. The four-day event hosted at Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center saw the Wildcats finish fifth overall with a team score of 396.
The final day of competition kicked off with the mile as junior
Nicolette Harvey was the team's top finisher with a time of 18:39.40, good for tenth place. First-year
Mira Gupta also competed in the 1650-yard freestyle on Saturday clocking a time of 19:25.34. Coming in 20th overall was sophomore Clare cook with a time of 20:22.67 just ahead of
Charlotte Johnson who delivered a time of 20:23.94. All four competitors for the Wildcats had career best times in the mile with Johnson, Gupta, and Harvey achieving career best times in the 1,000-yard free split.
Senior
Emma Svendsen was the top finisher from St. Kate's in the 200-yard backstroke finishing fourth in finals with a time of 2:06.65, faster than her preliminary time of 2:07.44.
Natalie Chandler and
Jordyn Grotbo also appeared in the finals of the 200 back finishing 13th and 14th, respectively. In prelims, Chandler recorded a time of 2:12.56, before presenting a time of 2:14.45 in finals. Grotbo finished with a career best 2:13:53 in prelims before clocking a time of 2:15.13 in the finals session. Cook competed in prelims of the event finishing 22nd overall with a career best time of 2:32.60.
Ella Hochstetler competed in the 100-yard freestyle event posting a seventh pace time of 53.84 in finals after qualifying with a time of 53.60 in prelims.
Ava Hacker missed finals after her time of 56.77 in prelims as well as
Shea Bradley who clocked a time of 57.49.
Olivia Weil was the runner up in the 200-yard breaststroke with a season-best time of 2:22.83, just .02 seconds behind the title winner.
J Dombroski was the top finisher in the B final finishing with a career best finish of 2:30.36 after qualifying with a 2:31:20 in prelims.
Avery Doom was also in the B final on Saturday finishing with a career best time of 2:33.52 in 14th.
Sierra Hermansen and
Maka Chikowero appeared in the prelims with Hermansen posting a time of 2:37.09 and Chikowero in with a career best 2:48.41.
Eloise McKeon and
Richanta Pollard were both in the preliminary trials for the 200-yard butterfly on Saturday morning. McKeon finished with a career best 2:37.99 while Pollard was in at 2:41.21.
The Wildcat divers appeared on the 1 meter board for competition on Saturday with first-year
Macey Morgan earning a tenth place score of 325.95.
Madeline Galazen was 17th on the 1 meter board scoring a career best 290.85 and
Juliet Peterson finished 20th scoring 267.75 points, another career best.
The evening concluded with the 400-yard freestyle relay and fifth place for St. Kate's. Svendsen was the first off the blocks for the Wildcats followed by Weil, Harvey and Hochstetler recording a time of 3:38.86.
Overall the team posted 15 career best times on Saturday wrapping up the championships.
