COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University swimming and diving completed their first double dual of the 2024-25 season at Saint John's University facing the College of Saint Benedict and St. Olaf College. The swimmer recorded three best times in the event while the divers each had career best scores.
In diving,
Macey Morgan finished third on the 3 mtr board with a score of 171.85, a season-best score for the first-year. Maddie Galazen finished eighth on the 3 mtr board scoring 111.70 overall points. Morgan was fifth on the 1 mtr board with a finals score of 165.50 and Galazen was eighth again with a score of 128.45 with her season-best score.
The relay team of
Emma Svendsen,
Olivia Weil,
Natalie Chandler, and
Jordyn Grotbo finished the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:54.06. Weil went on to record the top time in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:27.53 while Charolette Johnson also appeared in the event with a sixth place time of 12:23.37 for a career best time.
Grotbo was third in the 200-yard freestyle clocking in at 2:04.52 and
Ella Hochstetler was the runner-up in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.67.
Avery Doom and
J Dombroski were neck in neck in the 100-yard breaststroke with Doom touching the wall at 1:14.14 just ahead of Dombroski in fourth place with a time of 1:14.19.
Svendsen had the top time in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:11.75 while
Ava Hacker had the Wildcats best finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.84 just ahead of
Shea Bradley at 26.89 in eighth. Recording a best time and clocking in tenth was
Carys Walsh with a time of 27.50.
Svendsen was the runner-up in the 100-yard freestyle at 55.87 and Hochstetler was third in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:14.62.
In the 200-yard breaststroke, Weil was the runner up clocking in at 2:35.62 and Grotbo was the runner-up in the 500-yard freestyle recording a time of 5:43.13.
Dombroski was the Wildcats top finisher in the 100-yard butterfly with a third place time of 1:02.35 before claiming the 2nd place time in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:19.90.
In the final event of the meet, the relay team of Bradley, Grotbo, Hacker and Svendsen were third overall with a time of 3:51.47.
Against the Oles, the Wildcats fell 196 to 102 and against the Bennies, St. Kate's was the runner up with a score of 169 to 131.
