ST. PAUL, Minn. -- St. Catherine University extended their win streak over Macalester College to six with a dominant 20-point victory on Wednesday evening at the Leonard Center. The 58-38 conference road win advances St. Kate's to 4-3 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) and 6-4 overall.
Rookie
Hattie Fox led all players with an 18-point performance for her eighth double-digits game of the season. Fox went 7-7 from the FT line with four rebounds and two assists. Junior
Greta Schimnowski recorded her seventh double-digit game with ten points while contributing seven boards and one assist. Sophomore
Emme Golembiewski had nine rebounds plus two steals leading the squad defensively.
St. Kate's was off to a slow start on Wednesday evening trailing by eight four minutes into the first quarter before inching back as
Kaylee Miron and
Lily Peper added four points each while Fox supplied three. The team went on a nine point scoring run in the last minute of play to carrying a two point advantage into the second quarter. Both teams added eight points to the scoreboard in the second led by Fox with four.
The Wildcats dominated the third quarter holding the Scots to just four points while adding 21 of their own. Fox was 4-4 from the free throw line adding seven points, Schimnowski was 2 for 3 in three point scoring while
Maddie Young and
Kristen Lawton scoring three each.
Macalester attempted a fourth quarter push going to start out the fourth quarter but St. Kate's found a second wind securing a 24-point cushion with a minute left after a ten point run and forcing ten turnovers in the quarter.
St. Catherine will travel to St. Olaf College on Saturday, January 6 at a 1 pm conference match up.
