Basketball falls to No. 6 Gustavus

ST. PETER, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University basketball team dropped a tough MIAC game to the No. 6 ranked Gustavus Adolphus College Golden Gusties. The Gusties completed the conference series sweep over the Wildcats with a final score of 101-49 in St. Peter, Minnesota. 

Gustavus had a 23 point lead after the first ten minutes of play holding St. Kate's to just eight points. They put up another 31 points in the second quarter to St. Kate's eleven creating a 43 point difference after 20 minutes. 

The Wildcats came out of the half with a little force holding the Gusties to just 17 points while posting 14 led by Hattie Fox going 4-4 from the free throw line. Fox posted another four points in the fourth quarter along with junior Maddie Manger supplying four. 

Fox led the way with 12 points, three rebounds and one assist. Greta Schimnowshi contributed six points with two rebounds and one block. First-year Lily Peper also had six points on Saturday with one rebound shooting 100 percent from the free throw line. 

The Wildcats return to Butler Center on Wednesday, January 31 hosting Hamline University at 7 pm.
