ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University basketball team completed the MIAC sweep of the College of St. Scholastica on Wednesday evening. The 45-40 win inside of Butler Center puts the Wildcats at 12-5 with a conference record of 8-4.
Sophomore
Emme Golembiewski led the Wildcats with nine points and nine rebounds in addition to three assists and three blocks plus a steal.
Greta Schimnowski tallied eight points with two boards while
Hattie Fox and
Rachel Randleman each had seven points. Fox was tied with Golembiewski with nine rebounds and
Karis Zezza added seven rebounds to go with her five points.
It was a slow start on Wednesday evening but the Wildcats picked up momentum following a good-three from Schimnowski to get things rolling. St. Kate's put out 17 points to St. Scholastica's nine building a necessary cushion for the remainder of the game. The Saints outscored the Wildcats in the second and third before both scored a final ten to close out the game.
St. Kate's will travel to No. 6 Gustavus Adolphus College on Saturday in St. Peter at 1 pm. The team returns to Butler Center next Wednesday, January 31 to host Hamline University at 7 pm.
