WINONA, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University hockey team dropped game two of the MIAC series against No. 15 Saint Mary's on Saturday afternoon in Winona. The Cardinals downed the Wildcats 3-1 scoring three unanswered power play goals for the sweep.
Rookie
Lilly Gillespie scored the first goal of the game with help from
Madi Fleming just under four minutes into the second period. Saint Mary's knotted it up seven minutes later ending period two 1-1. The Cardinals went on to score two more in the third period for the 3-1 victory.
Abby Severson made 36 saves in the game for her second consecutive 35+ saves games. Sophomore
Ellie Skaja led the shot count for St. Kate's with three shots on goal.
St. Kate's will travel to Bethel University on Tuesday, January 23 for a non-conference game against the Royals at 7 pm.
