MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University volleyball team won a five set battle over Edgewood on Friday evening. The win puts the Wildcats at 3-1 overall so far after day one of the Augsburg University Invite.
St. Kate's started out slow in the first set before coming back to win the first set point 25-19. Edgewood took the second set 25-22 while St. Kate's won set three 26-24. The score reversed in set four with the Eagles forcing a deciding fifth-set with a 26-24 win over the Wildcats. The final set went in favor of the Wildcats winning 15-11 after going back and forth and knotting it at 11-11.
Tiffany Tellez tallied ten kills while
Maggie Rosen,
Mallory Johnson, and
Emily Bredman all posted nine. Bredman also recorded ten blocks in the match to go along with her three service aces while Johnson had five blocks.
Claire Segner added 22 digs and five aces to the box score and
Brenna Essig added 17.
The Wildcats return to Augsburg on Saturday facing the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse followed by Lakeland University.
