ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University soccer team dropped their first contest of the season falling to a talented Pomona-Pitzer team. The loss puts St. Kate's at 2-1 on the season.
The Sagehens controlled play for much of the contest putting up 13 shots on goal to the Wildcats six. St. Kate's had an opportunity to score first in the second half with commotion in front of Pomona-Pitzer's net after the Wildcats corner but the Sagehens keeper snagged the ball before
Amanda Elton could get it across the goal line.
The game was decided in the 72 minute off an unassisted goal from the outside of the box finding the back right corner of the net.
Senior goalkeeper,
Kate Praetz made 12 saves in 90 minutes while sophomore forward,
Briana Henaman led the shot count with three on goal followed by senior forward
Ari Green with two.
The Wildcats travel to Minnesota Morris on Saturday for a non-conference game with kick off scheduled for 1 pm.
