MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University tennis team dropped a tough match against the top-seeded Carleton College Knights on Saturday afternoon by a score of 8-1. The conference match was played at Baseline Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota with the Wildcats record falling to 4-7 overall with a MIAC record of 2-4.
The team's lone point of the day came at No. 1 doubles with seniors
Kelsey Dorr and
Sofia Walker taking down the top doubles team in the region 8-6. At No. 2,
Elsa Joly and
Erica Wing were downed 8-4 and
Anna Luksik and
Erin Loterbauer falling at No. 3, 8-5.
Dorr fell at No. 1 singles by a score of 6-2, 6-4 while Walker dropped No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-0. Joly battled at No. 3 singles losing 7-5, 6-2 and
Monica Zink played No. 4 and was defeated 6-2, 6-2.
The Knights final two points came with a 6-3,6-3 win at No. 5 over
Anna Luksik and
Lily Vang lost at No. 6, 6-3, 6-0.
St. Kate's returns to Baseline next Friday, April 14 with a 7 pm match against Bethel University.
