MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University tennis team fell to the Bethel University Royals on Friday evening at Baseline Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota. The 6-3 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) match puts the Wildcats at 4-8 on the season with a conference record of 2-5.
The Royals swept the Wildcats in doubles play with
Kelsey Dorr and
Sofia Walker falling at No. 1 8-5 while
Erica Wing and
Monica Zink dropped a close 8-7 match at No. 2. Bethel's No. 3 team went on to take down
Anna Luksik and Erin Loterbuaer 8-4 to go up 3-0.
Dorr scored a point at No. 1 singles taking the match 7-5, 6-3 and Luksik won at No. 4 singles 6-4, 6-2. St. Kate's third and final point of the match was scored at No. 6 singles by Loterbauer with a 6-3, 6-2 defeat.
Walker appeared in the No. 2 match and was edged out 6-0, 6-3. Zink was defeated at No. 3 6-0, 6-2 and
Lily Vang played at No. 5 falling 6-0, 6-3.
Next up for St. Kate's is a road trip to St. Peter to take on Gustavus Adolphus at 10 am.
