ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University softball team suffered a pair of losses to the No. 8 ranked Bethel University Royals on Tuesday afternoon at St. Kate's Field. The Royals claimed the first game 6-0 before the Wildcats held them to a 1-0 game in 8 innings in the second of the series. St. Catherine is now 14-14 overall with a MIAC record of 8-4.
GAME ONE | Bethel 6, St. Catherine 0
St. Kate's held the Royals off until the top of the fourth inning scoring two runs of a double to center field and adding their third run by stealing home. The Royals struck again scoring off a sac fly taking a 4-0 lead in the top of the fifth. Their final two runs were scored in the top of the seventh inning scoring the first on a error on the catcher and their final on a fielders choice play.

Erica Pronschinske pitched the complete game striking out a season-high six batters.
GAME TWO | Bethel 1, St. Catherine 0 (8 innings)
It was a defensive battle for both teams in the second game holding each other to a scoreless game to force an extra inning. Bethel's solo run of the game was scored in the top of the eighth inning off a sac fly to right field. The Wildcats were unable to overcome the run scored falling 1-0.
St. Kate's is scheduled to host Hamline University on Wednesday, April 19 at St. Kate's Field. The doubleheader is set to start at 3:30 pm.
