Box Score BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University tennis team dropped their second MIAC match of the year falling to the College of St. Scholastica on Sunday afternoon. The 4-5 match in favor of the Saints was played at the Lifetime Fitness in Bloomington, Minnesota.
Kelsey Dorr and
Sofia Walker claimed the team's lone doubles point with an 8-3 defeat at No. 1. The Saints downed
Elsa Joly and
Monica Zink 8-6 and also defeated
Erica Wing and
Anna Luksik 8-7.
Joly was successful at No. 3 singles winning 6-3, 6-2 and
Lily Vang also downed her opponent with ease at 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 6 position. Luksik was the team's final point playing a tough match losing the first set 6-2 but claiming the second 6-3. Luksik went on to take the match in the tiebreaker set 10-1.
Dorr dropped her first singles match of the season falling 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 and
Monica Zink was defeated at No. 4 6-1, 6-3. The final point came down to a fight at No. 2 singles as Walker took set one 6-2 and lost the second set 7-6 to force a tiebreaker. The Saints took the win with a 10-8 win over Walker to close out the match.
The Wildcats next match is Friday, March 17 against the College of Saint Benedict at Baseline Tennis Center at 6:30 pm.
