CLAREMONT, Fla. -- The St. Catherine University softball team split wins on Monday for day two of The Spring Games. St. Kate's lost their first game of the day with a 8-1 final against the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater before taking down Washington and Jefferson College 8-0 in five innings.
GAME ONE | UW-Whitewater 8, St. Catherine 1
The Wildcats got off to a slow start on Monday morning giving up eight runs to the Warhawks. St. Kate's held them off until the third inning when Whitewater scored three runs striking again once in the fourth and once again in the fifth. They went on to score three final runs in the sixth inning. St. Kate's snapped the shutout in the bottom of the sixth inning with sophomore
Sarah Posey scoring an unearned run after rookie Kylie Kohout reached first on an error to drive her home.

St. Kate's turned it around in game two getting an early lead going up 2-0 in the opening frame with runs from Posey and first-year
Helen McKinnon. Posey drove in the Wildcats third run bringing in Natalee Sigfrid for a quick 3-0 lead. St. Kate's had a four-run inning in the third on back to back plays as first-year
Sam Aronson hit a double to left center with bases loaded. With Sigfrid at the plate, Aronson along with senior
Julia Azure scored going up 7-0. The team's eighth run was scored in the fourth off a sac fly from Azure to bring in senior
Taylor Brunn.
Kaitlín Boyles was 2 for 2 in the second game with one run and one RBI and Sigfrids was 3 for 3 with two RBI and one run. Aronson also added two RBI going 1 for 3 with one run.
Riley Leonhardt earned her second collegiate win in the circle playing five innings tallying three strikeouts and giving up just two hits.
The Wildcats have another pair of games on Tuesday taking on Hope College at 8 am CDT followed by Bowdoin College immediately after.
