MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University tennis team lost a tough battle against non-conference foe, the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point 5-4 on Friday at Baseline Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota. The Wildcats claimed wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles along with No. 1 and 2 singles.
Kelsey Dorr defeated the Pointers No. 1 player Quinlyn Mack by a score of 6-3,6-1 and
Sofia Walker secured a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles. The four other singles matches were in favor of the visitors.
Elsa Joly dropped her first match of the season at No. 3 by a score of 6-3, 7-5 while
Monica Zink forced a third set going 6-7, 6-4, 9-11 at No. 4.
Anna Luksik was edged out in the tiebreak set after falling 7-5 in set one, but claiming the 6-4 win in set two and
Lily Vang dropped her match 7-5, 7-6 after a tiebreak set of 7-2, Pointers.
Dorr and Walker won at No. 1 doubles by a decisive score of 8-1, the same score the
Erica Wing and Luksik posted to win at No. 3. Joly and Zink put up a strong fight at No. 2 with a loss of 8-7 following a 7-5 tiebreak set.
The Wildcats are back in action on Saturday hosting Concordia College in the conference season opener at 1:30 pm. The MIAC pairing will be live streamed on YouTube and played at Baseline.
