Cobbers down Wildcats in first MIAC loss

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University basketball team falls to the Concordia Cobbers on Wednesday night at the Butler Center. Facing one of their toughest games yet, the Wildcats surrendered the win to the Cobbers with a final score of 75-67. St. Catherine takes their first conference loss of the season with a MIAC record of 2-1 while sitting 4-2 overall. 

Concordia wasted no time in the first quarter as the Cobbers started tracking on points immediately. Short lived as the Wildcats rallied and pulled ahead to finish with a 25 to 17 point lead heading into second. It didn't stop there as St. Kate's pulled further, holding the Cobbers off by 39-29 finishing the first half.

The Cobbers didn't make it easy for St. Kate's and they narrowed the margin 55-57 by the end of third with the Wildcats leading by two points. 

Leading the way into the fourth quarter, Concordia put up a fight. With one minute left on the clock,  the Cobbers led the game by six points with the Wildcats tracking close behind. The Wildcats surrendered the win to the Cobbers with a final score of 67-75, putting up a great fight.

Hattie Fox was the lead scorer for the Wildcats with 15 points with Maddie Young coming in second with 12. Greta Schimnowski followed with eleven total points,contributing three assists, and finished with a 3-5 for 3-pointers, averaging over 50%. 

Karis Zezza and Kristen Lawton both added nine points while Zezza contributed two assists. Emma Golembieswski helped the Wildcats to finish the game by adding six points, three blocks, and four assists. 

St. Kate's next game is on Monday, December 4 where they will play at Hamline University.
