ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University basketball team dropped their second straight conference game falling to the Hamline University Pipers 73-56 on the road Monday evening. The loss puts the Wildcats at 3-3 overall with an MIAC record of 2-2 with three games remaining in 2023.
Hattie Fox led the way again for the Wildcats with ten points and two rebounds shooting 100 percent from the free throw line.
Greta Schimnowski followed with nine points with one rebound while
Maddie Young contributed nine with five boards. Defensively,
Emme Golembiewski carried the Wildcats with an impressive 12 rebounds with two blocks and one steal.
Hamline took the lead early in the first quarter holding St. Kate's off for a ten point advantage. Scoring was low for both teams in the second with a combined 12 points as the Wildcats added just four. Coming out of the half, the Wildcats scored 18 points to the Pipers 22 trailing 56-38 with ten minutes to play. In the fourth and final quarter, the Wildcats led the charge scoring 18 led by senior
Karis Zezza scoring all eight of her points for the night.
The Wildcats return to Butler Center on Wednesday to host the Bethel University Royals at 7 pm.
