Fox leads Wildcats to 65-42 victory over Saints

DULUTH, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University basketball team continued their win streak with a 65-42 defeat of the College of St. Scholastica Saints on the road in Duluth, Minnesota. St. Catherine improved to 3-1 overall with an MIAC record of 2-0 early in the season. 

Rookie Hattie Fox was the lead scorer in the game putting up 17 for her fourth double digit game averaging 16.5 points per game. Fox contributed four rebounds while shooting 100 percent from the charity line. St. Catherine overall shot 86.4 percent from the free throw line with three others aside from Fox hitting 100 percent. 

Maddie Young added nine points with six rebounds while Emme Golembiewski, Rachel Randleman and Sydney Elliot each had eight points. Golembiewski was one of the four going 4-4 from the free throw line while adding a team best nine rebounds.

The Wildcats were off to a slow start leading by just one after the first ten minutes. Things picked up in the second quarter holding a seven point advantage going into the half. St. Kate's best performance came in the third quarter with Fox adding nine points shooting 100 percent in her almost 8 minutes on the court. Young led the way in the fourth scoring six of her eight points in the game while on the court for just five minutes and helping the Wildcats to a 23 points with under two minutes remaining. First-year Julia Harmon scored the Wildcats final point getting them to their largest lead of the game before closing it out at 65-42. 

The Wildcats return to play hosting Concordia College on Wednesday, November 29 at 7 pm at Butler Center.
