MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The St. Catherine hockey team picked up a 3-2 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) win on the road over the Concordia College Cobbers in Moorhead. The victory is the team's first conference win with an overall 3-4 record.
"It was a good road win for us", noted head coach
Brad Marshall. "This is a tough place to play, the Concordia kept coming at us. It was nice to see
Madi Fleming and
Samantha Lackmann get us some big goals, and
Abby Severson was solid in net."
Senior
Madi Fleming scored an unassisted goal in the first minute of play over the Cobbers.
Samantha Lackmann tallied her first of the season in the second minute of the second period with help from
Lilly Gillespie and
Raechel Painovich.
Concordia got on the scoreboard with four to play in the second period and
Paige Loidolt extended St. Kate's lead four minutes into the third period.
The Cobbers added one more to try and overcome the lead from the Wildcats but it was all they had giving up their third conference loss. The two return to play on Saturday in Moorhead again at 2 pm.
