MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The St. Catherine hockey team completed the road series at Concordia with a 3-3 OT result that led to a shootout loss. The conference tie grants the Wildcats one point with the Cobbers earning two for an overall 3-4-1 record.
"We played good enough to win, but let it get away", said head coach
Brad Marshall. "Hopefully the break brings an opportunity to recover physically and really get us focused on our last few games before we turn our attention to finals week and finishing up classes strong."
Madi Schwengler put the Wildcats on the board first again in game two for her first of the season assisted by
Joslin Mumm six minutes into the opening frame. The Cobbers knotted it up ten minutes later going into the first intermission 1-1.
St. Kate's took advantage of the extra skater scoring a power play goal with 14 minutes on the clock with an unassisted goal from
Ellie Skaja. Concordia added another tying goal in with seven minutes left in the second at 2-2.
Skaja was a part of the Wildcats third goal as well as
Lauren Henriksen gave found the back of the net to go with 3-2 at 4:21. St. Kate's couldn't hold the Cobbers off though as they tied it one final time to force overtime. Neither team was able to earn the win in overtime resulting in a shootout that went in favor of the home team.
St. Kate's has one final series in 2023 hosting the College of St. Scholastica on Friday, December 1 at 7 pm at Drake Arena in St. Paul. The Wildcats then travel to Duluth facing the Saints at Mars Lakeview Arena at 6 pm on Saturday, December 2.
