MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The St. Catherine hockey team came out strong on Saturday in game two of the MIAC series against Augsburg University resulting in a 4-3 overtime loss. The Wildcats are now 2-4 with a conference record of 0-2.
In the opening period, the Auggies took a two goal lead scoring back to back goals within 20 seconds of each other.
Lauren Henriksen scored her first goal of the season with a power play goal seven minutes into the period assisted by rookie
Sarah Wangen.
Augsburg went up by two again in the opening minute of the third period but the Wildcats took advantage of the extra skater again with 17 minutes to play. Sophomore
Paige Loidolt scored the second goal with the assist from
Halle Dunleavy. Dunleavy scored the game tying goal less than two minutes later from
Madi Fleming and
Raechel Painovich.
Anna Friendshuh made 25 saves in the game while Fleming and
Abby Pirkl led the shot count for St. Kate's with three each.
St. Kate's travels to Moorhead, Minnesota next weekend for a conference series against Concordia College.
