WINONA, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University hockey team dropped a 5-0 decision to Saint Mary's University on Friday evening falling to 9-5-2 on the season with a conference record of 3-4-2.
The Cardinals first goal came in the middle of the first period to take a one goal lead until five minutes into the second as they went up 2-0 over the Wildcats. Saint Mary's didn't slow down adding a third goal just two minutes later and a fourth before closing out the second period.

Abby Severson entered the game following the Cardinals third goal at 7:05 in the second replacing fifth-year
Elizabeth Kubicek who made 14 saves in 27 minutes. Severson allowed two goals in the first game of the conference series with 16 saves.
St. Kate's had 24 shots in the game despite beind unable to find the back of the net. Senior

Madi Fleming led the shot count for St. Kate's with four a piece.
Game two of the conference series is scheduled for 4 pm on Saturday at Drake Arena in St. Paul.
