EAU CLAIRE, Wis. -- St. Catherine volleyball split on day two of the Sandy Schumacher Memorial Tournament, taking down Finlandia University in straight sets and falling to the No. 13 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
MATCH ONE | St. Catherine 3, Finlandia 0
St. Kate's started the second day similar to how day one was with a 3-0 sweep of Finlandia. The Wildcats cruised past the Lions in set one with a score of 25-10. Finlandia was able to find momentum in the second set but not enough to take down St. Kate's falling by two points. St. Kate's claimed the third and final set 25-19 claiming their third 3-0 sweep in a row.
Junior
Maggie Rosen added 12 kills while rookies Tiffany Tellez and
Mallory Johnson contributed seven and six, respectively. Two players were in double digit figures for digs as junior libero
Claire Segner added 11 and sophomore
Lexie Petrick had 10.
MATCH TWO | UW-Eau Claire 3, St. Catherine 0
St. Kate's final match of the weekend was against the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball reigning champion falling to the Blugolds in straight sets. The Wildcats pressured their opponents right away getting a two point lead late in the first set before ultimately losing 25-23.
Eau Claire carried the energy into the final two sets taking down St. Kate's 25-19 and 25-18.

Madison Fagan each had seven kills in the match while Petrick and Segner both added ten digs.
St. Catherine opens the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) season Wednesday, September 21 as they travel to Carleton College for a 7 pm match. The team returns home on Friday, September 23 hosting Buena Vista University at 7 pm.
