STEVENS POINT, Wis. -- The St. Catherine University soccer team opened the 2022 season on the road with a two-goal shutout of non-conference foe, University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Both of St. Kate's goals game in the first half of play with sophomore
Sydney Nelson knocking the first goal of the season in at 19:26. Nelson's goal was assisted by fifth-year's
Jessica Bartz and
Sofia Campbell. Senior
Amanda Elton was responsible for the Wildcats second goal scoring at 22:04 in the half.
The shot count reflected the result with St. Kate's putting seven shots on net to the Pointers three. Nelson led the way with two shots on goal, while Elton had one along with fifth-year
Lauren Witte. A trio of newcomers added the other three shots in their debut game in purple and gold. Junior
Kate Praetz was in net for the full game making three saves and recording her tenth career shutout.
St. Catherine opens the home season on Saturday, September 3 hosting Simpson College at 1 pm at St. Kate's Field.
