DULUTH, Minn. -- The St. Catherine tennis team closed out the regular season with a 8-1 victory over the College of St. Scholastica on the road. St. Kate's finishes the season 11-3 overall and a MIAC record of 8-2 clinching a playoff spot as the No. 3 seed.
The Wildcats swept doubles on Friday taking an early 3-0 lead.
Kelsey Dorr and
Sofia Walker defeated the Saints at No. 1 doubles 8-1 and
Bri Dorr and
Monica Zink claimed the No. 2 match 8-4. At No. 3 was
Elsa Joly and
Reilee Schepper taking the match at 8-2.
Zink blanked her opponent at No. 6 singles winning 6-0, 6-0 and Schepper won at No. 5, 6-0, 6-2. Joly played the No. 4 match defeating one of her doubles opponents 6-2, 6-1. K. Dorr won at No. 1 6-4, 6-2 and Walker claimed the No. 2 match in a tiebreaker 3-6, 6-3, 10-6. B. Dorr fell at No. 3 6-4, 6-1.
The Wildcats will host the No. 6 seed on Tuesday, May 3 at Baseline Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota.
