MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- St. Catherine tennis opened the conference season with an 8-1 defeat of the Macalester College Scots on Friday at Baseline Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota. The Wildcats are now 2-0 on the season and secured their first conference win for a 1-0 MIAC record.

Sofia Walker were flawless in the No. 1 doubles match with a 8-0 defeat of Amanye Reynolds and Meg Ulrich. Senior

Monica Zink claimed the victory in the No. 2 doubles match with a set score of 8-5. In the No. 3 doubles match, junior

Reilee Schepper played Talia Chait and Megan Twomey winning their match 8-1.
St. Kate's went 5-1 in singles action with taking the No. 5 and 6 singles matches by a score of 6-0, 6-0. Schepper defeated Talia Chait again at No. 5 while Zink took down Hannah Lundblad at No. 6.
K. Dorr faced Amalin Sorajja at No. 1 winning the first set 6-1 and the second, 6-0. At No. 4 singles, Joly defeated Avery Munster in a close match winning 7-5, 6-4. Walker also played a close match claiming the win in set three (6-2, 2-6, 10-7). B. Dorr fell at No. 2 6-3, 6-2 for her first loss of the season.
St. Kate's will host Hamline University on Friday, March 11 at 6 pm at Baseline and travel to Concordia-Moorhead on Friday, March 18 before heading to Florida for three matches.
