Wildcats set to appear at MIAC Indoor Championships Friday-Saturday

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The 2022 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships are set to begin on Friday. Eight Wildcats will compete in the two-day meet Friday-Saturday at Carleton College in Northfield, Minn.

First-year Burnices Barlue will debut at the indoor championships appearing in the 55-meter hurdles on Friday and on Saturday, she is set to compete in the triple jump. Barlue enters the meet with a seed time of 9.24 for the hurdles and ranks ninth in the conference this season in the triple jump with a mark of 10.51m. 

Rookie Madi Genz will also make her debut in the 55-meter dash at the championships Friday with a seed time of 7.52. Genz will compete in the 200-meter dash on Saturday afternoon entering the race with the 20th fastest time in the MIAC. Barlue and Genz will further join junior Claire Nichols and sophomore Erin Doyle in the 4x200 meter relay on Saturday. 

Aside from the relay, Nichols is in the long jump and high jump on Friday. In the long jump, she ranks 14th on the MIAC indoor performance list and she ranks 10th overall in the high jump this season with a best mark of 1.45m. 

Senior Julia Clark will compete in the three events over the weekend in Northfield starting with the mile on Friday. On Saturday, Clark will appear in the 3K followed by the 1000 meter run. 

Senior Reilee Schepper will join Nichols in the long jump entering with the 12th best mark this season. She will also appear in the triple jump on Saturday with fellow senior Bryana Leverentz and Barlue.

The final field event of the weekend will include senior Lauren Isaacson appearing in the shot put. Isaacson enters the meet 11th on the MIAC indoor performance list with a mark of 11.53m and finishing 20th her rookie year throwing 10.48m.

The MIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships begin with Friday's field events set to start at 4:00 p.m. and track to follow at 4:30 p.m. Saturday's final session starts with 11:45 a.m. field events and 1:00 p.m. track events. 


FOLLOW THE ACTION
Due to space limitations inside the Recreation Center and the large number of teams participating, there will not be spectators allowed at the 2022 Indoor Track & Field Championships, per Carleton College campus policy. Live video streaming will be provided free of charge.

The MIAC has a homepage dedicated to the 2022 Indoor Track & Field Championships, complete with the event schedule, entries, heat sheets, and links to follow the action via webcast and real-time results. Results and recaps of the Championships will be made available throughout the event.
