ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine basketball team wrapped up their regular season schedule on Wednesday evening with a 63-42 win over the visiting Saint Mary's Cardinals. The final game at
Butler Center for the season kicked-off honoring the team's four seniors,
Mackenzie Kurczek,
Brooke Torvik,
Katie Benjamin, and
Sam Orth along with the Wildcat dance team's lone senior, Mel Swanson.
Four players were in double-figures in the points column led by junior
Bree Glynn with a game-high 14 points. Behind Glynn was fellow junior
Sarah Lavell with a season-high 12 points. Rookie
Greta Schimnowski shot 50 percent on the night with eleven points and Orth added ten.
Both teams started off slow ending the first quarter 10-8, St. Kate's. From there on, the Wildcats built an 18-point lead into halftime. The lead extended to 28 with six minutes left in the third but the Cardinals inched back going on a 10-point run to close the quarter. St. Kate's held onto the 20-plus lead throughout the conclusion of the contest for a final of 63-42.
The Wildcats finish as the No. 10 seed in the MIAC Playoffs and will travel to Concordia College in Moorhead on Saturday for a 1 pm first-round game.
