Moorhead, Minn. —The Wildcats' season ended on Saturday with a 61-44 loss to the Concordia Cobbers in the first round of the MIAC playoffs.
For both teams, the game started with energetic defense, turnovers, and shots that wouldn't fall. Halfway through the 2
nd quarter, St. Kate's led the low-scoring contest 13-11. Then after connecting on 3 three-pointers and some free-throws, the Wildcats went into the break leading 24-20.
St. Kate's still had a small lead with a little over six minutes left in the third, when things started going the Cobbers' way. They began getting to the line and hitting from outside, spurring an 18-4 run that put them up by 11 points with less than a minute left in the third.
In the final quarter, a layup by
Katie Benjamin cut the Concordia lead to 6 points with 7 minutes left. But that would be as close as the Wildcats would get. The Cobbers went up by 10 with 2:50 left, and they kept control the rest of the way.
Greta Schimnowski led Wildcat scorers with 11 points, going 3-for-5 from outside the arc.
Brooke Torvik contributed 10 points in the game.
Concordia will travel to Gustavus for the next round of the playoffs on February 22
