ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University hockey team earned a weekend sweep over Lawrence University with a 3-2 victory on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats are now 4-0 on the season opening Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) play next weekend against Augsburg University.
Senior defenseman
Kaitlyn Blair scored two of the three goals on Saturday giving the Wildcats a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute of the opening period assisted by junior
Maiah Robert and rookie
Paige Loidolt. The Vikings tied the game ten minutes later scoring with under 4 minutes in the first period.
Loidolt scored the game winner early in the second period with an assist from junior
Lauren Henriksen. Blair's second goal was scored with 12:10 remaining in the period.
The final goal of the game was a short-handed goal from the Vikings with less than seven minutes to play.
Junior goalie
Abby Severson played the full 60 minutes allowing two goals and making 14 saves.
Sophomore
Joslin Mumm and senior
Marie Reimer led the shot count adding five each followed by Blair and Henriksen with four a piece.
St. Catherine opens the MIAC season hosting Augsburg University on Friday, November 11 at 7 pm.
