ST. PAUL, Minn. -- St. Catherine softball (17-11, 12-6 MIAC) dropped a pair of Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) games to the visiting St. Olaf College Oles (19-3, 17-1 MIAC) on Saturday afternoon.
The Wildcats were baffled by the Oles pitching in game one unable to get a hit playing a strong defensive game falling 1-0. Game two was just a tough at the plate for St. Kate's with the team suffering errors to allows an 8-0 win for the visitors in five innings.
GAME ONE | St. Catherine 0, St. Olaf 1
Kathryn Proper claimed the loss in the circle allowing just two hits and striking out six. The Oles lone run of the game came in the top of the 7th inning scoring an unearned run off an error from Proper.
GAME TWO | St. Catherine 0, St. Olaf 8 (5 innings)
Starting for the Wildcats in game two was
Annabelle Schutte allowing three runs in two innings. Proper replaced Schutte for 1.1 innings giving up two homers for five runs.
Alyssa Montero relieved Proper striking out one and allowing just one hit.
Taylor Brunn and
Alex Ehde each had a hit in game two appearing at the plate twice in the five innings game.
St. Catherine will play Hamline University on Sunday, May 2 at 1 and 3 pm. St. Catherine will return home to close out the regular season on Tuesday, May 4 hosting Macalester College with the first pitch scheduled for 3:30 pm.
