Box Score MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- St. Catherine tennis dropped a tough fought battle with the Bethel University Royals on Friday evening on the campus of the University of Minnesota at the Baseline Tennis Center Outdoor Courts. St. Kate's fell 7-2 to Royals who are currently No. 4 ranked team in the conference this season. 

St. Kate's picked up a point in each singles and doubles play with wins going to Kelsey Dorr and Bri Dorr at No. 1 doubles and Noelle Slezak at No. 6 singles. 

In doubles, K. Dorr and B. Dorr secured the first point for St. Kate's with an 8-7 final winning the tiebreaker 8-6. Ella Graham and Reilee Schepper were defeated at No. 2 doubles by a score of 8-5 and Elsa Joly and Erica Wing dropped the No. 3 match 8-2. 

In singles play, Slezak claimed the team's lone singles point taking her first set 6-3 but forcing a third set after dropping the second one 6-2 to secured the point with a 10-6 defeat in the tiebreaker. 

K. Dorr dropped the No. 1 singles match winning set one 6-2 and falling in set two 6-4. Grace Riermann, who is ranked No. 4 in the central region in singles this season claimed the tiebreaker set 10-2 over K. Dorr who holds the No. 6 regional ranking. 

B. Dorr was defeated at No. 2 6-1, 6-1 and Graham fell at No. 3 6-1, 6-4. in the No. 4 singles match, Schepper fell 6-0, 6-4 and Joly played a close match coming back after dropping set one 6-2 to win 7-6 in set two. Joly's opponent topped her in the breaking set 10-8. 

St. Kate's earns the No. 5 seed in the MIAC playoffs and will play Bethel again on Wednesday, May 5 at 3:30 pm. Visit the MIAC playoffs website for more details on the overall schedule.
