BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The St. Catherine tennis team opened the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) season with a 9-0 victory over the Concordia College Cobbers on Sunday afternoon at the Bloomington South Lifetime Fitness.
The Wildcats No. 1 doubles team of
Kelsey Dorr and
Bri Dorr were victorious over the Cobbers 8-2 to improve to 2-0 this season.
Reilee Schepper and
Ella Graham blanked their opponent in the No. 2 doubles match and
Noelle Slezak and
Erica Wing played No. 3 picking up the 8-3 win.
B. Dorr started out singles play with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 followed by K. Dorr at No. 1 claiming the victory with set scores of 6-1, 6-1.
Graham didn't lose a game against the Cobbers collecting the 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 3 for her first wins in doubles and singles. "We grew stronger as a team today and set the bar high for our upcoming matches!", said Graham.
Schepper played the No. 4 singles match again on Sunday topping her opponent 6-0, 6-1 and
Elsa Joly grabbed her first win of the season 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5. First-year
Noelle Slezak played the final match of the day at No. 6 also claiming her second singles win 6-1, 6-0.
St. Kate's will return to the competition next Friday, March 12 as they travel to Winona, Minnesota for a MIAC match against the Saint Mary's University Cardinals (1-1, 0-1 MIAC).
