NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- Forwards
Sam Orth and
Bree Glynn both posted double-doubles as the Wildcats earned an impressive win on the road, 71-55. Orth led the team in both scoring, with 18 points, and boards, with 11, while Glynn scored 11 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
Turnovers plagued both teams just after tipoff, but once they settled in, the lead changed hands a few times. When
Katie Benjamin hit a layup with a minute left in the first quarter it gave the Wildcats a lead and they would never surrender for the remainder of the game. They finished the quarter with an 8-0 run that gave them a six-point cushion.
Carleton fought back a bit in the second quarter. They quickly made it a 3-point game and got into the bonus early. But throughout the game they never managed to cash in on free throws—going a total of only 5 for 15 from the line.
The St Kate's stat sheet, on the other hand, had lots to like. The Wildcats out-rebounded Carleton 47-31 and had twice as many second-chance points as their opponents (22 vs. 11). The St Kate's bench chipped in twenty-four points, with Zezza scoring ten of those.
Next St. Kate's faces off against Gustavus at the
Butler Center at 1 pm on Dec 11.
