Kylie Wood posted 16 points leading all scoring in the Wildcats 79-37 defeat of Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Illinois Saturday afternoon. Wood was accompanied by
Sam Orth with 15 points and a team-best eight boards.
St. Kate's knocked down 12 points straight points to open play with the Hawks scoreless until the 7:28 mark in the first quarter. The Wildcats built upon the lead carrying an 18 point margin going into the second quarter and going up 23 points headed into the half.
The second half mirrored the first with St. Kate's holding the Hawks to just 22 points while adding 41 of their own to close out the weekend series in Chicago 1-1.
Orth was 7 for 10 with eight rebounds and 15 points. Wood had 16 points off the bench going 3 for 4 behind the arch adding 2 boards.
Greta Schimnowski tallied 11 points shooting 100 percent from the three-point line.
St. Kate's travels to Concordia College next Saturday to open the conference season with a 5 pm game in Moorhead.
