ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine soccer team defeated Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) cross-town rival, Hamline University 4-1 on Wednesday at Pat Paterson Field. The Wildcats pick up their third straight win improving to 7-1-2 this fall.
Sophomore
Mallory Johnson netted her first career goal with help from senior
Taylor Johnson at 9:18 in the first half. St. Catherine added two more goals before the half and before the Pipers were able to get on the board. In the 26th minute, junior Mandy Elton tallied her eighth goal of the season assisted by rookie
Caitlyn Bartlett. The Wildcats' third goal was from senior
Emma Watt off the bench with ten minutes remaining in the half off a pass from sophomore
Emily Stephens. Hamline's lone goal was scored just a minute after with sophomore
Kate Praetz in goal.
The final goal of the game came from senior
Lauren Witte, her second of the season, in the 50th minute. Witte fired off two shots in the contest along with Johnson, rookie
Sydney Nelson, and senior
Rachael Holm. Elton led the way with five shots in just 53 minutes on the field.
Junior
Molly Rudolph entered the game with 21 minutes remaining collecting one save. Praetz played the other 69 minutes with two saves.
St. Catherine is on the road again on Saturday with a 6 pm game at Macalester College.
