ST. PAUL, Minn. -- St. Catherine soccer (8-1-3, 5-1-1) attained a come from behind win over the visiting Concordia College Cobbers on Tuesday afternoon at St. Kate's soccer field. A late second half push from the Wildcats proved to be enough with a game-winning goal from senior Amora Valenica in the 88th minute of play.
Senior
Rachael Holm tallied her first goal of the season putting St. Kate's on the board 15 minutes into the first half of play.
The Cobbers knotted it up eight minutes later at 1-1 and took the lead in the 37th minute. St. Kate's held possession of the ball through the first outshooting Concordia ten to six.
Coming out of the half, St. Catherine switched into gear owning the shot count 12 to one. The Wildcats' tying goal was the result of a penalty kick in the 62nd minute from senior
Taylor Johnson.
The game-winner from Valenica was her first goal of the season with help from junior
Amanda Elton which was her first assist of the season.
Sophomore
Kelsey Dugan earned the win over the Cobbers, entering the game for the final 45 minutes.
St. Kate's is home again hosting the College of St. Scholastica Saints for the pairs first conference contest against each other. The Saints are 3-2-1 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) and 3-6-3 overall.
