ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine soccer team defeated the College of St. Scholastica Saints on Saturday afternoon 3-0 in the first official Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) scheduled contest between the two programs.
St. Kate's outshot the Saints 19 to two with 14 shots on goal for the purple and gold.
Senior
Lauren Witte tallied the first goal at 12:22 in the first half with an assist from
Amanda Elton. Elton scored her ninth goal of the year, leading the MIAC so far this season. Her goal came just five minutes into the second half unassisted.
Elton was partially responsible for the Wildcats third and final goal of the contest with a pass to first-year
Sydney Nelson to tally the rookie's third of the season in the 86th minute.
St. Kate's sophomore keeper
Kate Praetz played the complete 90 minutes recording her fifth shutout of the season, the second-most in the conference.
The Wildcats are on a two-game road trip going to Augsburg on Friday, October 22nd for a 7 pm contest before going to Carleton College on Wednesday, October 27 at 3:30 pm. St. Kate's will have one final regular season game at home, hosting St. Olaf College on Saturday, October 30 at 1 pm.
